This course will span over 2 weeks with sessions 5 days a week, Weekends will be free for exploring the surrounding area and rest.
The diving instructor course, or IDC Course is meant to take this skill a step further and teach candidates how to demonstrate the rescue skill at a teaching level.
We will take time to walk candidates through this evolution of how they demonstrate a rescue and we are always happy to repeat any sections that need clarity from candidates.
Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and will be asked to engage in guided discussion regarding methodology and various topics relating to the presentations. During these meetings, specific time slots are allocated to practice classroom presentations. Candidates are guided through the flow of how to present theory presentations to future students and receive constructive feedback. Presentations are graded as part of the process.
While classroom sessions with take up a large portion of time, the in-water skills are still equally important and several days are spent in confined and/or open water to assess and improve each candidate’s demonstration of skills. Be prepared for these days to take you out of your comfort zone.
Briefings and debriefings will also be included in the in-water days, though not exclusively assigned to those days alone. Candidates will have the chance to practice their briefings in a mock style during classroom days. Lastly, as the rescue scenario is required for completion of a rescue course and the divemaster course (both pre-requisites of an IDC), candidates are expected to have mastery of the skill when they begin the IDC program.
